Support for Ukrainians in Worcestershire

MMSC has been deeply involved in supporting Ukrainian refugees hoping to come to Worcestershire from war-torn Ukraine. From the very beginning of the war, we have been helping Ukrainians with:
Finding Hosts
Processing applications with Home Office
Airport transfers
Settling in their new environment – Arranging NINo, bank account, school placements etc.
Exploring their new surroundings – shops, places of culture, things to do and see

Providing them with long term support – food, employment, courses, English lessons, excursions, mental support, furniture and all other necessities Ukrainians require to restart their lives in our county.

We, of course, would not be able to do it alone.

Since February, we have helped over 150 families with our actions and advice.

  • In cooperation with Transition Worcester, we have delivered over 2 tonnes of food to our Ukrainian Guests.
  • We have completed over 40 furniture runs, collecting furniture from good-willed people and delivering them to Ukrainians in need.
  • Thanks to Yellow Scarf and The National Lottery, we have processed over 500 applications – NINo, employment, Home Office applications etc.

And this is only the beginning, as the true challenges begin to slowly show up on the horizon.

Things we now need to prepare for are:
          – Supporting Ukrainians in seeking steady, reliable jobs
           – Teaching our guests English
           – Helping them reach out to their families left in Ukraine
            – Helping them find accommodation on their own
            – Supporting their mental health recovery
